Shraddha Kapoor (born 3 March 1987) is an Indian actress and singer who works in Hindi films. The daughter of the actor Shakti Kapoor, she became a star with the romantic musical Aashiqui 2 (2013). She went on to lead hits including Ek Villain, Baaghi, Chhichhore and the horror comedies Stree and Stree 2. Stree 2 (2024) is her biggest success and one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever.

Early Life and Family
Kapoor was born in Bombay to the actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure. Through her mother she is related to a famous musical family: the actress Padmini Kolhapure is her aunt, and the singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle were her great-aunts. She studied at Jamnabai Narsee School and the American School of Bombay. She then enrolled in psychology at Boston University but left after her first year to pursue acting.
Career
Kapoor made her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the thriller Teen Patti (2010) and appeared in Luv Ka The End (2011). Mohit Suri’s romantic musical Aashiqui 2 (2013), in which she played an aspiring singer, was a surprise blockbuster and earned her a first Filmfare nomination for Best Actress.
She followed it with the thriller Ek Villain (2014) and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider (2014) with Shahid Kapoor. She starred in the dance film ABCD 2 (2015) and the action hit Baaghi (2016) with Tiger Shroff. In the horror comedy Stree (2018) she played a mysterious woman, and the film became a sleeper hit and launched a film universe. She also starred with Prabhas in Saaho (2019) and in the campus drama Chhichhore (2019).
After Street Dancer 3D and Baaghi 3 (2020), she co-starred with Ranbir Kapoor in the romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023). Stree 2 (2024), in which she returned alongside Rajkummar Rao, grossed around ₹875 crore worldwide. It became her highest-grossing film and one of Hindi cinema’s biggest hits. Her upcoming films include Eetha, a biopic of the Tamasha dancer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar.
Music and Business
Kapoor has sung songs for several of her films, including “Galliyan” (Ek Villain) and “Do Jahaan” (Haider). She launched the clothing line Imara in 2015. She is one of the most-followed Indian women on Instagram.
