Sidharth Malhotra (born 16 January 1985) is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films. A former model, he worked as an assistant director before making his acting debut in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year (2012). He went on to star in Hasee Toh Phasee, Ek Villain and Kapoor & Sons. He gave his most acclaimed performance as the Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah (2021). He is married to the actress Kiara Advani.

Early Life
Malhotra was born in Delhi. His father, Sunil Malhotra, was a captain in the Merchant Navy, and his mother, Rimma, is a homemaker. He began modelling at 18 and worked as a model for about four years. He then moved to Mumbai and worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan (2010), starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Career
Johar launched Malhotra alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the campus drama Student of the Year (2012), a commercial success. He followed it with the romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee (2014) and Mohit Suri’s thriller Ek Villain (2014), co-starring Shraddha Kapoor, which was a major hit. He also starred in the family drama Kapoor & Sons (2016), which won critical praise.
After A Gentleman and Ittefaq (both 2017) and Marjaavaan (2019), Malhotra played Captain Vikram Batra, who was killed in the 1999 Kargil War and posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, in Shershaah (2021). The film was released on Prime Video, became one of the platform’s most-watched Indian films, and earned him wide acclaim and a Filmfare nomination. Kiara Advani played Batra’s fiancée, Dimple Cheema.
Malhotra starred in Thank God (2022) and played a spy opposite Rashmika Mandanna in the Netflix thriller Mission Majnu (2023). He led Rohit Shetty’s streaming series Indian Police Force (2024) and the action film Yodha (2024). In 2025 he co-starred with Janhvi Kapoor in the romantic comedy Param Sundari.
Personal Life
Malhotra married his Shershaah co-star Kiara Advani on 7 February 2023 at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer. Their daughter was born in July 2025.
