Yo Yo Honey Singh (born 15 March 1983), whose real name is Hirdesh Singh, is an Indian rapper, singer, composer and producer. He brought Punjabi hip-hop into the Indian mainstream. In the early 2010s he dominated the charts with hits such as “Brown Rang”, “Angreji Beat”, “Lungi Dance” and “Blue Eyes”. After a long break caused by mental health struggles, he made a celebrated comeback and has been touring the world again.

Early Life
Honey Singh was born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and grew up in Delhi. He became interested in music production as a teenager and studied music before starting out as a recording artist and producer for Punjabi singers.
Career
Honey Singh first made his name as a producer and as part of the hip-hop crew Mafia Mundeer, alongside Badshah and others. His 2011 album International Villager, including “Brown Rang”, was a massive hit in Punjab and overseas.
Bollywood soon came calling. Honey Singh’s songs “Angreji Beat” (Cocktail), “Lungi Dance” (Chennai Express), “Party All Night” and “Chaar Botal Vodka” made him the most in-demand musician in Hindi film. His singles “Blue Eyes” and “Love Dose” and the album Desi Kalakaar were among the biggest non-film hits of the decade.
At the height of his fame around 2014, Honey Singh disappeared from public life. He later revealed that he had been battling bipolar disorder and addiction. He returned with songs such as “Makhna” and “Saiyaan Ji” and released the album Glory in 2024. That December, Netflix released the documentary Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous about his life and struggles. He toured India with his Millionaire Tour in 2025, and in 2026 he began the “My Story” world tour in Dubai.
Personal Life
Honey Singh married his childhood friend Shalini Talwar in 2011. The couple divorced in 2023. He has spoken openly about his mental health to encourage others to seek help.
