West Indies won the third and final one-day international against India by five wickets at New Chandigarh on Saturday, 3 October 2026, chasing down 352 behind an unbeaten 162 from their captain, Shai Hope. India had already won the series, which finished 2-1 in their favour.

Scores in brief

  • India: 351 for 7 in 50 overs
  • West Indies: 352 for 5 in 48.2 overs
  • Result: West Indies won by 5 wickets, with 10 balls to spare
  • Venue: Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh

India’s innings

KL Rahul made 129 not out, Rohit Sharma 92 and Ruturaj Gaikwad 57 as India passed 350. Jayden Seales took 3 for 62 for West Indies. For Rohit it followed a century in the second match, in which he went past 12,000 one-day international runs.

Hope’s chase

Shai Hope batted through the innings for 162 not out. Amir Jangoo made 67 from 56 balls in a second-wicket stand of 109 with his captain. ESPNcricinfo described it as a record chase for West Indies.

Hope scored two centuries in the three-match series.

A high-scoring series

All three matches were won by the side batting second, and the totals were enormous:

  • First ODI: India won by 8 wickets, with centuries from Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.
  • Second ODI: West Indies made 405 for 7; India chased it down with Gill scoring 223 not out.
  • Third ODI: India made 351 for 7; West Indies chased it down.

What next

The teams have moved on to a Twenty20 series, which began in Lucknow on 6 October with an Indian win built on a Shreyas Iyer century.

For India’s one-day side, the series showed formidable batting depth with the veterans Rohit and Kohli still scoring heavily, and raised questions about a bowling attack that conceded more than 350 twice.

Scores are as published by ESPNcricinfo and ESPN.
