The India Mobile Congress, the country’s largest telecom and technology event, opened at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, New Delhi, on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to inaugurate it formally at about 10 am on Thursday, 8 October, the Prime Minister’s Office has said.

At a glance

  • Edition: 10th
  • Dates: 7 to 10 October 2026
  • Venue: Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre
  • Theme: “Scale Without Boundaries”
  • Expected attendance: more than 1.5 lakh visitors
  • Exhibitors: more than 500
  • Programme: over 120 sessions and more than 2,000 technology demonstrations

The event is organised by the Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India. The Communications Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, reviewed the arrangements at the venue on 5 October.

What is on the agenda

  • 6G: research and early standards for the next generation of mobile networks, expected commercially around 2030.
  • Artificial intelligence: its use in running networks and in consumer services.
  • Satellite communications: broadband delivered directly from satellites.
  • Cybersecurity and fraud: a growing concern as digital payments spread.
  • Also: semiconductors, quantum technology, telecom equipment manufacturing and how operators can earn a return on their 5G investment.

Who is taking part

Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are present, along with companies including Qualcomm, Ericsson and Intel and the industry body GSMA.

The background

India has more than a billion mobile connections and some of the lowest data prices in the world. The 5G networks launched at this event in 2022 were rolled out across the country faster than almost anywhere else. The government now wants Indian companies and researchers to hold a share of the patents behind 6G instead of only buying the technology, and to build more network equipment at home.

The congress comes weeks before the expected stock-market listing of Jio Platforms, the largest operator.
