India’s Innings

After the run-fest in Ranchi, Indore was another festival of runs. Asked to set a target, India breached 200 for the second match running, thanks to opener Abhishek Sharma, who had been dismissed in his 20s by off-spinner Roston Chase in the first two games.

Abhishek added 108 for the second wicket in 40 balls with Ishan Kishan after Sanju Samson’s early exit. But Chase took Kishan and captain Shreyas Iyer in the ninth over and the visitors came back: India went from 115 for one to 223 all out.

The Chase

The West Indies stayed within reach for much of the chase. Naman Dhir removed set batters Shimron Hetmyer, who was bowled after the ball deflected off his pads, and Kamil Pooran, who had hit three sixes. Arshdeep bowled West Indies captain Shai Hope, who had been in red-hot form, for a cheap score.

A Streak Intact

The win kept intact India’s four-year streak of not losing consecutive T20Is at home. The series now has two matches to go.
