- Jugraj Singh: 23rd minute
- Hardik Singh: 42nd minute
- Shilanand Lakra: 54th minute

Why it matters
- Fifth title: It is India’s fifth Asian Games gold in men’s hockey.
- First successful defence: India had never before won the men’s title at two Games in a row. They won at Hangzhou in 2023.
- Olympic place: The Asian Games winner qualifies automatically for the Olympics, so India are assured of a place at Los Angeles 2028 without going through further qualifying tournaments.
- A captain’s record: Harmanpreet Singh became the first Indian captain to lead the men’s team to two Asian Games golds.
A double for Indian hockey
The women’s team also won gold at the same venue, beating China 1-0 for India’s first women’s title at the Games since 1982. Indian teams also won both titles in cricket and kabaddi.
Background
India won bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and Paris in 2024, the country’s first Olympic hockey medals in four decades. The team will now build towards the World Cup and the 2028 Games.
