Wrestler Aman Sehrawat is back in India with his first Asian Games gold medal, and already looking past it, the Hindustan Times reported on 10 October 2026.
“Abhi target achieve nahi hua,” he said. I haven’t achieved my target yet.

The Final
Han Chong Song, the reigning world champion, led 7-6 late in the bout. With about 30 seconds left, a bruised and bloodied Aman scored a two-point takedown and went on to win 11-7.
“I always believed that I could do it,” he said. “All I thought then was ‘galti nahi karni’.” No mistakes.
He had beaten the North Korean before, but said he did not take that for granted.
A Difficult 2025
The gold follows a hard year. A ban connected to a failed attempt to make weight, later revoked, kept him out of the World Championships.
“It was my dream to win at the World Championships. But once I came out of it stronger, I put all my focus into the Asian Games,” he said.
Back to 57kg
Earlier this year he moved up to 61kg and won silver at both the Zagreb Open and the Asian Championships.
On his coaches’ advice he returned to 57kg, the category in which he had won bronze at the last Asian Games. He also changed his diet, which he believes cost him in the semi-final three years ago.
What Drives Him Now
“I am getting a lot of love and people are reminding me that I have to go for gold at the Olympics. So that is what is motivating me now. I want to hold an Olympic gold medal,” he said.
Aman was one of India’s six medallists at the Paris Olympics.
