Five rounds were fired at actor Tiger Shroff’s car as he left a football ground in Juhu, Mumbai, at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, according to ThePrint and Scroll. The actor was not hurt, but his driver, named as Firdosh in ThePrint’s report, was hospitalised, and a bystander, an auto driver named as Umesh Chauhan, was also injured. Three suspects were detained in Kota, Rajasthan, by a joint team of the Anti-Gangster Task Force and the district police on Monday, and are to be handed over to Mumbai Police. A claim of responsibility in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has circulated on social media.

The case that this was a serious, targeted attack, and that the police responded quickly, begins with the facts. Five rounds were fired at a moving car on a public road, and two people were injured, so the attack endangered passers-by as well as the actor. A message posted in the name of the Bishnoi gang said anyone in the Mumbai film industry “who refuses to listen to us or chooses to work with Salman Khan will be next,” ThePrint reported, and Scroll said a person identifying as “Anil Pandit” claimed responsibility in an audio clip. Within about a day, three suspects had been traced to Kota, two adults and a minor, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Mumbai Police had already identified those behind the attack. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the suspects would get a “response in their own language.”

The case for caution about the gang’s claim is also on record. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg declined to comment on the social media claim, Scroll reported, and the Mumbai Police registered a first information report against three unidentified persons, so the motive and who ordered the attack have not been established. The suspects detained in Kota include a minor from Sonipat in Haryana and two adults, Rehan from Sonipat and Ritik Kumar from Begusarai in Bihar, who ThePrint said works as a ride-hailing rider, which suggests that the people who fired may not be the ones who planned it. The two outlets also differ on a detail: ThePrint named an auto driver as the second injured person, while Scroll referred to a bystander, so some facts are still being confirmed.

The incident matters for Mumbai and the film industry because earlier incidents this year, such as the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home in February, were also claimed by the Bishnoi gang, according to reports at the time. For the city’s police, tracing suspects to Rajasthan within a day tests how well agencies in different states can work together. Actors, producers and venues will watch whether security for film personalities changes, and the involvement of a minor in a shooting raises questions about how young recruits are drawn into organised crime.

An actor escaped unhurt, two others were wounded and three suspects are in custody. The next step is to establish who gave the order and whether the gang’s claim stands up.
