Peyush Bansal (born 26 April 1985) is an Indian entrepreneur and the co-founder and chief executive of Lenskart, India’s largest eyewear retailer. He left a job at Microsoft in the United States to start a business in India and launched Lenskart in 2010. The company sells spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses online and through more than two thousand shops, and makes most of its own products. He became widely known as a judge on the television show Shark Tank India.

Early Life
Bansal grew up in Delhi, the son of a chartered accountant. He did not get into the IITs and went to McGill University in Montreal, where he worked as a receptionist and taught himself coding to help pay his way. He joined Microsoft near Seattle as a program manager in 2007.
Career
He left Microsoft after about a year and came home in 2008. His first venture, SearchMyCampus, helped students find housing, books and part-time jobs. He then started Valyoo Technologies, which ran websites selling eyewear, bags and watches.
With Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi he focused the business on eyewear under the name Lenskart. He saw that hundreds of millions of Indians needed glasses and did not have them, and that the trade was made up of small shops with high prices. Lenskart began with contact lenses online, added spectacles in 2011 and then opened its own shops with free eye tests, combining online ordering with a place to try frames. It built a large automated factory in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, bought the Japanese brand Owndays in 2022 and expanded into Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Lenskart listed on the Indian stock exchanges in November 2025.
Bansal has been an investor-judge on Shark Tank India since its first season in 2021, alongside founders such as Namita Thapar. Viewers know him for his calm manner and practical questions.

He is married to Nimisha, and they have two children. He lives in Delhi.
