Shamrock AI has raised $5 million, or Rs 47.4 crore, in a seed funding round led by Endiya Partners, with Capria Ventures also taking part, according to Inc42. The company builds what it calls an agentic assurance platform, which helps large enterprises to deploy AI agents in critical business processes reliably.

The founders are Sarat Addanki, Anuraag Nallapati and Michael Gallagher, according to the report. The company is headquartered in Shillong, with offices in Hyderabad and San Francisco, which is unusual for a technology start-up, since most are based in Bengaluru, Delhi or Mumbai. The report does not comment on the choice of location.

The platform uses an Enterprise Business Knowledge Graph to connect business processes, systems, data and configurations, according to Inc42. A knowledge graph is a way of storing information as connected items, which is general background. The idea behind the product is that a company needs to know how its processes and systems link together before it can rely on AI agents to act within them.

The start-up already serves large clients. Its customers include several Fortune 500 companies, among them a Fortune 100 AI hardware manufacturer and a Fortune 100 healthcare company, according to the report. The names of the customers are not given.

The funds will go towards accelerating product development, expanding the team across India and the US, scaling go-to-market operations and entering the Middle East market, according to Inc42. The company plans to base 70 to 80 per cent of its workforce in India while building a client-facing team in the US.

The round is small in absolute terms. At $5 million, it is about 1.1 per cent of the $438 million that Indian AI start-ups raised in the third quarter, a share that IndiaX24 has calculated and that is only illustrative, since Shamrock’s round may fall in a different quarter. It is one of many seed rounds in a sector whose funding is concentrated in a few large deals.

The product addresses a problem that Inc42’s investor survey also raises indirectly. Investors told Inc42 that they prefer vertical AI applications and that they see froth in valuations, as IndiaX24 has reported. A company that helps enterprises make AI agents reliable is a tool for the companies that adopt them, and the reports reviewed do not describe how Shamrock charges or how many contracts it has.

The seed stage is the earliest institutional round, and a seed round of $5 million is large for that stage in India, where the median ticket across all start-up deals in the third quarter was $3 million, according to Inc42. That comparison is IndiaX24’s, and it suggests that Shamrock’s round is above the typical deal size, although the median covers all stages and not only seed rounds.

Endiya Partners and Capria Ventures are venture capital funds, and the reports reviewed do not describe their earlier investments. The company’s chief executive is not named in the report.

IndiaX24 will report on the company’s Middle East expansion and customer announcements if they follow.
