The first round of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy was played from 11 to 14 October 2026 across four Elite groups and the Plate group, according to the BCCI’s round summary. Several teams won with maximum points, and the round produced a number of big individual scores.
Bengal beat Delhi by nine wickets in Elite Group C, according to Cricinfo’s results as relayed in a search summary. Delhi made 240 and 277, Bengal made 425 and then reached 89 for 1 to win. Bengal’s six points for dismissing the opposition twice are mentioned in the BCCI summary, which says that Bengal and Maharashtra both took six-point wins.
Uttar Pradesh made 540 against Bihar, with the opener Madhav Kaushik scoring 150 and Rinku Singh 112, and then bowled Bihar out for 141 and, after enforcing the follow-on, 132, according to the search summary. That is an innings win by 267 runs, which is IndiaX24’s calculation from 540 less 141 and 132. The BCCI lists Uttar Pradesh among five teams that took seven points for innings wins.
Baroda declared their only innings at 472 for 8, with captain Atit Sheth falling for 99, and bowled Goa out for 199 and 138, according to the same summary. That is an innings win by 135 runs, a calculation by IndiaX24. Vidarbha scored 428 with their captain Akshay Wadkar making 198 and Yash Rathod 134, set Puducherry a target of 291 and dismissed them for 130, with the left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey taking 4 for 29. The BCCI summary lists Vidarbha among the maximum-point winners, although the way in which Vidarbha’s result is described in the two sources differs, and IndiaX24 reports both as given.
Mumbai and Gujarat were the other two teams with innings wins, according to the BCCI. Mumbai’s Tushar Deshpande took a five-wicket haul that included a hat-trick, as IndiaX24 has reported. Hyderabad’s Tanay Thyagarajan took nine wickets in the match, and Karnataka’s Karun Nair scored an unbeaten 155, according to the BCCI summary.
Ravindra Jadeja scored a century and took three wickets for Saurashtra, who drew with Chhattisgarh. Saurashtra made 392 and 229 for 1, and Chhattisgarh made 312, with Jadeja taking 3 for 40, according to the reports. The first-innings lead of 80 earned Saurashtra three points. Wisden’s report on the third day noted that KL Rahul fell cheaply again, although the reports reviewed do not say which team he plays for in this competition.
In the Plate group, Manipur completed a dramatic chase. The 20-year-old Pheiroijam Jotin scored an unbeaten century to take Manipur to a three-wicket win from 52 for 5, according to the BCCI. The reports reviewed do not give the opposition or the target.
In the points system described by the BCCI, teams that take a first-innings lead in a draw get three points and the trailing team gets one, a rule that explains why Saurashtra received three points. A maximum win earns seven points and a win after dismissing the opposition twice earns six. The summary does not give the standings.
IndiaX24 will report the results of Round 2.
