NorthEast United beat Kerala Blasters 4-1 and East Bengal beat Churchill Brothers 4-0 in the second round of the 2026-27 Indian Super League, played between October 17 and 19, according to ESPN’s match data. Bengaluru FC beat Chennaiyin FC 2-0, Inter Kashi drew 1-1 with Odisha FC and Punjab FC drew 1-1 with Mumbai City. The five matches produced 15 goals, an average of three a game. NorthEast United and Bengaluru FC lead the table on six points from two matches each, with NorthEast on a goal difference of +4 and Bengaluru +3, ahead of Punjab FC on four points. Sporting Club Delhi are the only side without a point after two defeats.
The case that the round showed attacking football is made by the scorelines. East Bengal scored four at Churchill Brothers through Dani Ramírez in the second minute, Edmund Lalrindika on the stroke of half-time and two from Bipin Singh in the 85th and 90th minutes, and NorthEast United scored four against Kerala Blasters, with Alaeddine Ajaray scoring twice, in the 15th and 70th minutes, Antonio Moyano Carrasquilla adding one at the end of the first half and Aman C scoring in the 82nd. Bengaluru’s goals came from Ryan Williams in the 24th minute and Mihailo Perovic in the 52nd. Three of the five matches produced three or more goals for the winner, and NorthEast have scored five in two games, the same as Bengaluru.
The case that the picture is less clear is also in the table. Two of the five matches were draws, 1-1 between Inter Kashi and Odisha, where Odisha’s goal in the 56th minute, an own goal credited by ESPN to Pratik Prabhakar Chaudhari, was cancelled out by Thoi Singh Huidrom’s goal for Inter Kashi in the 89th, and 1-1 between Punjab FC and Mumbai City, where Leandro Otormín’s penalty in the 65th minute was cancelled out by Gurkirat Singh in the 90th. Several teams have played only one match, East Bengal and FC Goa, so the table is incomplete, and four clubs, Mumbai City, Odisha, Chennaiyin and Inter Kashi, share one point each with a goal difference of -1 or -2. Kerala Blasters, with three points from two games, have conceded four goals in a single match, so early form could change quickly.
The early rounds matter because the opening weeks shape the standing of every club in a 13-team league. East Bengal’s four goals without reply is the biggest win of the round, and Churchill Brothers now have a goal difference of -3. Sporting Club Delhi, who have lost both matches, are already under pressure. Bengaluru’s win at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium and NorthEast United’s at the Indira Gandhi Stadium gave both clubs a perfect record, while Punjab FC saved a point through Gurkirat Singh in the 90th minute. Mohun Bagan Super Giant have three points from two matches and FC Goa one from one.
The second round gave two big wins, two late equalisers and a lead for NorthEast and Bengaluru. The table is still forming and a third round will show who can keep the pace.
