Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 earned an India net collection of Rs 59.70 crore on its first day, 15 October 2026, with a domestic gross of Rs 70.25 crore, according to Filmibeat and India TV, which cite early estimates. The film’s worldwide opening was Rs 125.25 crore, including Rs 55 crore from overseas markets, according to the same reports. The figures are early estimates and may be revised when final data are released.

The early reports had given lower numbers during the day. ETV Bharat asked in its headline whether the film could cross Rs 50 crore, and The Week reported that the film had crossed Rs 50 crore in India by 8 pm on opening day, with a worldwide opening of Rs 125 crore in prospect. The final estimate of Rs 59.70 crore net is about Rs 10 crore above the Rs 50 crore threshold mentioned in the evening reports, a comparison that IndiaX24 has made from the two figures.

The Tamil version led the collections with Rs 43.35 crore net, according to the reports, and the Telugu and Hindi versions also contributed. The Tamil share of the Rs 59.70 crore net is about 73 per cent, which is IndiaX24’s calculation. The reports reviewed do not give the Telugu, Hindi and other language figures separately.

Advance sales were strong. The film recorded the second-highest hourly ticket sales on BookMyShow after Leo, at about 76,000 tickets, as the film aimed for one million tickets on the first day, according to a report of the evening. ETV Bharat’s headline says that the film beat the openings of GOAT and Jana Nayagan. IndiaX24 did not find the opening-day figures of those films in the reports reviewed and cannot confirm the comparison.

The film has a large cast of cameos. Hrithik Roshan, Vijay Sethupathi and Mohanlal appear in the film, according to a search summary of the coverage. Mohanlal’s costume designer has complained that three of the actor’s looks were cut, as IndiaX24 reports in a separate article.

The film is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 Jailer, and IndiaX24 had earlier reported on its release date, cast and the decision by Andhra Pradesh to allow higher ticket prices. The higher prices would be reflected in the Telugu collection, although the reports reviewed do not give the Andhra Pradesh figure.

The comparison with the other big film of the month is relevant. Drishyam 3 crossed Rs 500 crore worldwide in 12 days, as IndiaX24 reports, and Ramayana’s second trailer was released on 15 October, the day Jailer 2 opened. The sources reviewed do not say how the three films will share screens.

The worldwide figure can be split into its parts. A worldwide gross of Rs 125.25 crore, of which Rs 55 crore is from overseas markets, leaves Rs 70.25 crore for India, which matches the reported domestic gross, and IndiaX24 has checked that the numbers add up. The difference between the India gross of Rs 70.25 crore and the India net of Rs 59.70 crore is Rs 10.55 crore, which reflects taxes included in gross figures.

A first-day figure is only the start. The second day was a Friday, and the next days will show whether the film holds its audience, which depends on word of mouth. The reports reviewed do not carry reviews or audience scores, so the film’s reception is not described here.

IndiaX24 will report the film’s first weekend collection when it is available.
