The Andhra Pradesh government has allowed theatres to raise ticket prices for Rajinikanth‘s Jailer 2 during its first week, the Indian Express reported on 10 October 2026.

Why a Government Order Is Needed
Andhra Pradesh is one of the few states where the government sets maximum ticket prices, with separate caps for single screens and multiplexes. Any increase needs approval, granted film by film.
Telangana has a similar system. In most other states, exhibitors set their own prices.
The Dussehra Contrast
Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali releases a day later, on 16 October. It will be sold at standard prices in both Telugu states.
‘I Still Miss That Job’
Speaking at a promotional event, Rajinikanth looked back on his life before films.
“I spent five years working as a bus conductor, and even now, I still miss that job,” he said. “To be honest, I have never really felt like a big superstar.”
He worked as a conductor in Bengaluru in the 1970s. “Whenever I see a bus, I feel very happy,” he said.
The ‘Missing Element’
Rajinikanth also revealed that he had asked the director to include a song featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, whose song “Kaavaalaa” was one of the highlights of the first Jailer. He described it as the one thing missing from the sequel.
